"Its a summertime thing". A great song by Chuck Prophet "Summertime Thing" from the KFOG Local Scene CD. He sings about different events he observes, and calls them a "summertime thing." I have something to add to his list.
Today at work, my blood sugar took one of its occasional sudden drops. I got a bit shaky and felt rather hungry. I'd recently been feeling like having some root beer, and so I decided to go in search of a root beer float. All that tasty ice cream and root beer would bring my body back online really quick.
There's a Coldstone Creamery next door to Peet's, so I stopped by to see if they made root beer floats. The dialog went something like this:
"Hi, do you guys make root beer floats?"
"..."
"Root beer floats, do you make them?"
"Uh, root beer?"
"Yes, root beer."
"Uh, no, no I don't think so."
"Okay, thanks anyway."
You'd think that an ice cream place would serve root beer floats, but maybe Coldstone is too "artisan" for that.
Plus, you'd think that most people, particularly employees of ice cream shops, would know what root beer floats are, or at least, what root beer is.
So I never got my root beer float, an iconic part of summer for me (hence my "summertime thing").
I came home after work and had a very relaxing meal with my wonderful girlfriend, which she had cooked up for me for when I came home.
All in all, a very nice day.
